Sarina: Read any good books lately?

Long Walk to Freedom: The Autobiography of Nelson Mandela written by Nelson Mandela, as far as I am concerned a must read for everyone. It describes in great detail the unimaginable suffering of the black majority in South Africa and the ideas, plans and struggle for a free and democratic South Africa.

Sarina: What’s the last musical concert you attended? Describe the experience.

Raul Midon in Tivoli, Utrecht, The Netherlands in January 2010. Raul Midon is a fantastic performer that combines a great voice with fantastic guitar play, very intimate concert in my own hometown.

Sarina: Who are some of your heroes/role models? Why have they touched/inspired you?

One of my heroes is Nelson Mandela, his approach, his positivism and the way he changed one of the most racist countries in the world into a true democracy where both black and white live together in relative harmony, even though his work is far from done.

Role models: my parents, who always taught me not to give up and that everything is possible when you try really hard.

Sarina: What is one piece of advice that you’d like to leave the LegionCorps with?

Actually I’d like to quote Bryan Dyson (CEO of Coca Cola):

“Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling some five balls in the air. You name them – Work, Family, Health, Friends and Spirit and you’re keeping all of these in the Air.

You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back.
But the other four Balls – Family, Health, Friends and Spirit – are made of glass. If you drop one of these; they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, damaged or even shattered. They will never be the same. You must understand that and strive for it.”
